On 14 September 2025 an alternate chain replaced 18 Monero blocks, well past the ten confirmations everyone treated as final. 118 confirmed transactions could never be mined again.

Almost no public record of it survives: reorg data lives in a node's volatile state and disappears on restart.

monerometrics.net keeps that record. It is already running, free and open source: reorgs and orphan blocks with the transactions they displace, mining-pool shares proven with the pools' own view keys rather than taken on their word, Haveno premiums, a public API, an MCP server and a Tor hidden service. 3.7 million blocks indexed.

I build and run it alone and have paid for it myself since day one.

This kuno funds the next two years.

Milestones

1. Two years of hosting, including the bigger disk the chain now needs: about 2 XMR.
2. FCMP++ and Carrot readiness, 50 h: new coinbase scanner so pool attribution still works after the upgrade.
3. Self-hostable in one command, 10 h: docker compose against any monerod, so the project survives without me.
4. Reorg and centralization alerts, 20 h: webhook and RSS, free, on reorg depth, orphan-rate anomalies, largest-pool share and the Nakamoto coefficient.
5. Historical analytics and open data export, 35 h: reorg depth distribution, orphan rate, concentration over years; full CSV/JSON export, no key.
6. A second, independent node, 10 h plus hosting: one node only sees the competing blocks that reach it. A second one, on another network and location, catches the orphans the first one misses and confirms every reorg from two points of view, so no single node's view can be wrong unnoticed.

Each milestone gets a public report on X and GitHub when it ships, with what it cost. If I stop, I say so publicly and stop collecting.
