We have a proposal to continue spreading Monero. This time we want to make a "Treasure Hunt" event. The objective of this fundraiser is to fund the rewards to the event and some materials.

Event description

There is a "park" on the central zone of our town that is plenty of young people in this month (vacations). We want to go there and hide little packages with mnemonic seeds, previously charged with some moneroj. Later, we'll tell the people about this and show them where to read the instructions to recover the wallet and create a new one. They'll need to do this soon because, after 48 hs, the wallets will be emptied !

The objective is give them a starting motivation to learn about Monero and Crypto. By this challenge the participants will learn how to create a wallet, recover a wallet, and make a transfer. At the end of the event we'll share with the participants a list of local merchants accepting Monero to highlight the usability as a payment method.

This campaign complements the previous one (https://kuno.anne.media/fundraiser/nulg-spread-monero-in-neuqueacuten-argentina/), by including younger people. They probably will be willing to participate in a playful challenge.

Total fundraising:
66+24+5+5 USD = 0.62 XMR (January 28° price).

It's possible that not all treasures can be recovered on time. Those moneroj will be used to spread Monero in future events. The remaining and recovered wallets will be detailed here.

Schedule

It'll be on February, probably on Friday, Saturday or Sunday. The exact date is not determined.

Pilot test

We have yet made a pilot test with less rewards and simplified packaging (see additional images bottom). It flowed like expected and it had great engagement from young people. Also we identified some issues to address.

# UPDATE

11/2: 100% funded ! Starting the preparation for the event
The deep due to delistings brings an issue: the received funds covers 79% of original amount. The alternatives considered are:
- delay the event waiting a price recovery
- lauch a second fundraiser

1/3: The event is schedule to next weekend (March 8-10).

Thanks to the recent price recovery the received funds cover 91,5% of original amount. The difference will be covered by reducing rewards.

Also, 0.24 XMR (34USD) has been sold to pay for the flyers and others printings.

11/3: event postponed due to network congestion.

13/3: The sudden surges of transactions causes difficulties to plan the event (slow sync, slow nodes, slow transactions, etc. are not great to the first experience of newbies). We decided to modify the challenge in order to avoid these difficulties.

When we found the network was working better, we offered the "treasures" to people interested in have their first experience with crypto and helping them with the process of recovering the funds.
