On October 2, 2026, flooding in Fairbury, Nebraska forced our family out of our home. I am disabled and use a wheelchair, and my brother’s girlfriend is visually impaired, which has made leaving and finding somewhere to stay much harder. We are three people and five pets. My brother and his girlfriend are staying at her mom’s house. I am staying in a hotel because that house is not set up for a wheelchair. We are looking for a place we can actually move into. The water came up fast. After a few days of the city and our landlord pumping out as much water as they could, we moved valuables out of the garage and sorted what was still usable. Some furniture, clothes, documents, and personal possessions were still lost or ruined. Work and appointments have been disrupted because we are no longer in the house and do not have a stable place to stay. Each day has been spent figuring out where we will sleep, how to get around, and how to take care of the pets. A relative’s house is not set up for a wheelchair, so I have had to pay for an extended hotel stay. Donations will be used for the hotel, food, transport, pet supplies, replacing basic essentials, and possibly a security deposit on a new place. Hotel stays and extra driving add up quickly, and replacing even ordinary things like clothes, bedding, and documents costs more than we can cover on our own right now. The goal is about 9.27 XMR, around $5,000, to cover those costs while we get resettled. If we raise less, the money will still go to shelter, food, transport, and pet care first. If we raise the full amount, it will go toward getting into a place of our own. I have never asked for money online, and I did not expect to be in this position. I am sharing this because we were forced out of our home and temporary housing is the immediate problem, especially with a wheelchair. Photos of the damage are on this page. Even if the goal is not met, anything received will still help my family and our pets. I can be reached on X at @magiccrypto420 if you have questions. Thank you for reading.
