I am Dennis Muriira from Kenya. While activism is what defines every Kenyan youth today, recent Generation Z (Gen-z) led protests in Kenya have touched my fellow country people and many others both locally and internationally.

To give us a picture of it all, the protests started as a response to the proposed finance bill 2024/2025. These measures were intended to help the government raise funds to address its debt but were widely criticized for exacerbating the economic hardship faced by many Kenyans. The protests first started on 20/06/2024 as peaceful protests but violence came in as police brutality creeped in while trying to neutralize citizens and allegedly politically hired goons infiltrated the protests. These protests have seen citizens break police barriers of the Kenyan Parliament on 25/06/2024 after the members of parliament vote for the bill. The protests went on and several actions have been taken by the President including conceding and not signing the bill to law, dissolving the Kenyan Cabinet and the Resignation of the inspector general of police in Kenya.

The protests have been going on since then every Tuesday and Thursday and are going to continue in the coming weeks as the demands of the citizens are now centered around bad governance by elected leaders and those nominated that they even pass oppressive bills and loot public money and resources. Many are the demands of the common citizens that we are yet to see them addressed by the sitting government.

While that has been how the protests have been you can imagine the cost that this has had to the people. Today at least 41 are confirmed dead as police have used live bullets on peacefully protesting citizens and hundreds today are maimed and countless you the are in hospitals nursing wounds. Even worse on 12/07/2024 bodies have been retrieved from a river where they were wrapped in polythene bags. While goons infiltrated protests on various days, businesses have been burned down and others stolen from leaving hundreds if not thousands of business people going back to the drawing board. We have had several of the X (twitter) bigwigs abducted as their accounts have been used to largely spread the pro-protests Hashtags nationally and internationally. I personally have friends and family that have been affected largely by the protests with some having lost a loved one, others still in hospital and others having lost tones of property.

We are a group of 5 looking to raise At least $ 100, 000 to help those affected by the crisis in Kenya. Each one of us is utilizing various means they have to raise cash so that we can reach the target amount. It is with this that I appeal to the community to come through for the many affected individuals and families not only in my circle but in Kenya at large. While Monero adoption is something that I have been sensitizing people on with my business that also accepts Monero I can ascertain that for sure that your contributions will be used for this noble cause.

I am looking to
1. Support at least 120 youths in hospitals with clearing their hospital bills at an average Ksh 7, 800 each = $ 60 = $7, 200
2. Help at least 20 businesses persons whose businesses went down with two months of rent and onboard them to Monero an average of Ksh 30, 000 = USD $ 235 == $4, 700.
3. Help 15 well wishing medics in emergency responses to acquire supplies during oncoming protests in the coming weeks at least Ksh 50, 000 = USD $384.62 = USD 5,770
4. Provide Legal aid for the wrongly persecuted protesters = $ 5000
This is a total of USD $ 22, 670 = XMR 142.70.
